Who are the Roadkill Rollers?

Roadkill Rollers is a flat track roller derby league founded in 2015 and based in Nijmegen, NL. The league consists of about 30 members. We train in Sporthal De Horstacker twice a week.

Club activities

The club has motivated trainers, an off-skate team and PR-committee. During the year we organize fun activities, such as a Freshies Bootcamp, scrimmages, home bouts and a small teams tournament. Extra curricular activities for our members include Foute Bingo, Hello-ween and a (vegan friendly) BBQ.

Inclusive and fun

Roadkill Rollers is a fun and inclusive club that is open to all genders, fitness levels and ages from 18 and up.

What is Roller Derby?

Roller derby is a fun and exciting sport comprising the best aspects of rollerskating, ice skating and American Football. It was originally invented in the United States in the 1930’s and had ups and downs in popularity in the next decades. At the beginning of the 21st century it became popular again.

Roller Derby game play

Game play consists of a series of short scrimmages (jams) in which both teams designate 1 jammer (who wears a star on their helmet) and 4 blockers to skate counter-clockwise around an oval track. Jammers score points by lapping members of the opposing team. The teams attempt to hinder the opposing jammer while assisting their own jammer.
